The 2020 NTT INDYCAR SERIES Season officially kicks off Saturday with the Genesys 300 at Texas Motor Speedway, live on NBC.

Colton Herta on the season opener: “For a lot of us, this is the longest that we’ve ever been out of the car, especially for me. So, it’s been really tough, but I think we’re all really excited to get back, and we’re all really excited that we’re doing it in a safe way. Sucks that we don’t have the fans, but at least we get to go racing and put on a show for everyone on TV. Texas is a very tough place to start. Obviously going from zero miles an hour for a very long time to 230, 220 is very difficult. But with that being said, I think it’s going to be more about getting all the unknowns out, kind of the COP, the aerodynamics of the car, the weight distribution that the aero screen changes. And I think it’s actually going to be a very interesting race. I think with these 35-lap stints, it can open for more rubber going down on the track and can open up a second lane possibly and make the track grippier so we can follow closer and hopefully get more passing in.”

  • Colton will run a special Yankee-themed livery on his 88 car for the Genesys 300, playing tribute to the late Hank Steinbrenner. The tribute livery was first seen via the INDYCAR iRacing Challenge shortly after Hank’s passing.
  • Although NTT INDYCAR SERIES fans can’t be at this weekend’s Genesys 300 in person, as the title sponsor, Genesys is thrilled to help them experience the race in a new way. This year’s Genesys 300 is more than a race, it is a signal of a return to normalcy.
  • The Aeroscreen is a safety innovation for enhanced driver cockpit protection that will make its NTT INDYCAR SERIES race debut at the Genesys 300 on Saturday, June 6. The safety feature is a ballistic, canopy-like windscreen anchored by titanium framework encompassing the cockpit. INDYCAR has mandated its use by all teams at all track disciplines (ovals, permanent road courses and temporary street circuits).
